I am writing to you today as a concerned constituent to express my firm opposition to Bill C-39, the Building Canada Strong Act<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Ottawa is continuing a legacy of what it does best\u2014bypassing meaningful engagement and free, prior, and informed consent from First Nations Peoples. Under the guise of “national interest” and foreign threats, Bill C-39 directly infringes on Indigenous rights, sacred Treaty rights, and inherent sovereignty. Real reconciliation requires respecting UNDRIP standards and fully enforcing Treaty rights\u2014two principles completely disconnected from fast-tracked project timelines and centralized regulatory “hubs” designed for quick approvals in the benefit of industry, instead of our environment.<\/p>\n

I am reminding the government that Indigenous sovereignty needs to be upheld on October 1, and every day after. You cannot build a “modern economy” on a foundation of broken promises.<\/p>\n

I urge you to stand up for genuine accountability and respect for Treaty rights by taking the following actions:<\/p>\n

    1. Opposing Bill C-39 in its current form.<\/li>\n
    2. Demanding the government halt fast-tracking that bypasses First Nations consent (not just consultation).<\/li>\n
    3. Insisting on legislative processes that fully respect UNDRIP and honour nation-to-nation commitments.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
